Things I love…

  • Being alive, this past week especially. Stressful in the best way possible.
  • Feeling accomplished while walking back to my room after a long day with an insanely packed schedule. Best feeling ever.
  • Putting on eternity goggles; not drowning in my to-do list.
  • Drawing I. Pencil, charcoal, india ink, just being in the studio… I love it all. Definitely surprised myself in that class.
  • Days so full that my morning classes seem like they happened a lifetime ago. “Wait… that was today?”
  • Earl grey with honey and milk. Especially now that I can no longer drink coffee.
  • Being able to walk and do things normally without feeling dizzy and off-balance. I feel so free and lighthearted during these rare days of normalcy… hope it lasts.
  • Re-working a drawing assignment I thought was an utter failure, and being pleasantly surprised with the result.
  • Chocolate chip pancakes, omelets, yogurt with granola.
  • Sitting down for meals… disliking the food but enjoying the company immensely.
  • AKC and Wednesday night small group.
  • Downtown Northampton. So many lovely study spots I wasn’t able to take advantage of this semester.
  • Incredibly ambitious friends who make me want to work harder.
  • Glee and chamomile tea, for helping me fall asleep…
  • Realizing what a blessing it is just to feel ‘normal’. I hope I never take health for granted again.
  • The reminder that life is short and all is vapor.
  • Tightly rendered pencil drawings. Skeletons and bones especially.
  • Engineering 100 with the nicest professor ever. Learned more than I ever thought I would during the past week and a half.
  • Walking by Paradise Pond.
  • Gilett’s dining hall, even though I’ve only been there once.
  • The periodicals room in Nielson.
  • Christmas lights in my room.
  • Seeing my first lunar halo and thinking it was an imminent alien invasion. Haha.

There it is, my semester in bullet points. The good parts, anyway. So, so thankful to be here.
